Description
“The NYOU Parliament” is a project developed and managed by Fifty Fifty and supported by the Kingdom of the Netherlands’ Embassy in Beirut.
The program aims at creating a non-sectarian female political environment and increasing female representation in the Lebanese parliament.
Activities
- Fifty Fifty conducted training sessions with 30 potential female candidates.
- The 30 female candidates assessed the needs of their communities & came up with a project/solution to support the areas.
- Fifty Fifty with the help of a team of experts, developed 10 main national policies.
- Women conducted awareness sessions in their areas about gender quota.
- A national TV campaign was supported by billboards all over Lebanon.
- Women took part in round table discussions with media anchors.
- Campaign Managers were trained on “Elections & campaigns”.
Outcomes
- 30 Lebanese female candidates were equipped with knowledge and skills to run for the parliamentary elections.
- Increased the visibility of female candidates to the Lebanese community and political sphere.
- Lobbied political parties advocating for gender quota and women’s political participation.
