Laury Haytayan is an oil and gas governance expert in the Middle East and North Africa. She is the director in the Natural Resource Governance Institute. Prior to joining the Institute for Natural Resource Governance, Ms. Haytayan was Executive Director of Arab Parliamentarians Against Corruption, working with parliamentarians to develop strategies and action plans to strengthen oversight and legislative capacity of parliamentarians, and to promote accountability and transparency. For 15 years, Ms. Haytayan has worked with different stakeholders to build a community based on promoting an understanding of accountability, transparency, and the rule of law in public institutions in the Middle East. In 2013, she ran for parliamentary elections for the Armenian Orthodox seat in Beirut, the second district where her program focused on parliamentary reform, the civil state, women’s rights and oil and gas. In 2014, She was given the award of “Golden Shield of Excellence Award” by the Arab Women Council for being one of the distinguished women leaders and administrative leaders and active in the field of social responsibility in the Arab region. In 2015 the Green Party of Lebanon gave her an award for efforts to promote the role of Lebanese women in politics and decision-making. In 2016, the Indonesian Association of Parliamentary Advisors awarded her an award for her efforts in developing the capacity of parliamentarians and consultants concerning the subject of natural resources.
