Nazek El Khatib is a prosecutor judge specializing in domestic violence at the Mount Lebanon Court, where she prosecutes crimes against women and children. She has played a key role in drafting and advocating for several important laws in Lebanon, including those addressing domestic violence, sexual harassment, and child marriage. As a representative of the Ministry of Justice, she has contributed to the National Plan for Human Rights and the development of laws to protect gender equality. Nazek has also worked as an International Gender Expert with UNFPA, UN Women, and UNSMIL, drafting laws to protect women from violence in Libya. She has served as the Legal Advisor to the Minister of Justice and held a District Penal Judge position, issuing landmark judgments on gender-based violence and human rights. Her legal expertise and advocacy extend to numerous national and international boards, including the National Commission for Lebanese Women and the United Nations Human Rights Council. Nazek holds a Master’s degree in Law from Panthéon Assas University and a Bachelor’s from Lebanese University. Fluent in Arabic, French, and English, she continues to drive legal reforms aimed at promoting gender justice and human rights in Lebanon and beyond.
