Marie-Claude Najm, an associate of French law faculties, is a professor at the Faculty of Law and Political Science at Saint Joseph University of Beirut, president of the Private Law Section, and director of the Center for Studies on the Rights of the Arab World (CEDROMA). She has taught for several years as a visiting professor at Panthéon-Assas University (Paris II) and Panthéon-Sorbonne University (Paris I). She is also a lawyer at the Beirut Bar, providing legal consultancy services. Born in Beirut on April 6, 1971, Marie-Claude Najm holds a Lebanese law degree and a postgraduate degree in private law from Saint Joseph University of Beirut, as well as a PhD in private international law from Panthéon-Assas University (Paris II). Her publications primarily focus on conflicts of laws and jurisdictions, especially within pluralistic legal systems.Marie-Claude Najm has been involved in numerous initiatives within Lebanese civil society. She was a founding and active member of the “Khalass!” campaign, launched in 2007 to find a peaceful and binding solution to the political deadlock of that time, and has recently engaged in the secular popular intifada calling for a deep change in Lebanon’s political culture. She was also the former Minister of Justice in the Diab Government.
