Fadia Kiwan is an esteemed scholar and leader in the fields of political science, governance, and women’s issues. With a PhD in Political Science from the University of Paris-Sorbonne and a CAPES in philosophy and psychology from the Lebanese University, Dr. Kiwan has had a distinguished career in academia and public service. She was the founder and former director of the Institute of Political Science at Saint Joseph University, serving from 2002 to 2014, and also established the Observatory of Public Service and Governance at the same university, where she served as director from 2015 to 2018. Dr. Kiwan has been a visiting professor at several prestigious institutions across France, Italy, Spain, Egypt, and Tunisia. Her academic contributions include numerous research papers on civil society, good governance, political systems, and women’s issues, and she has served as a researcher and consultant for various international organizations. Dr. Kiwan was a member of the UNU Council from 2007 to 2013 and represented the President of Lebanon to the Permanent Council of La Francophonie from 2013 to 2017. She has also chaired the Scientific Advisory Committee for UNESCO’s “Most” Social Research Program and served as a member of the Executive Bureau of the Lebanese National Commission for Women. Dr. Kiwan’s expertise spans governance, political systems, and women’s empowerment, with a particular focus on the governance of political parties and civil society development.
