This project aims to consult and work closely with electoral and legal experts to develop the best possible scenarios to implement and lobby for a gender quota for the upcoming Municipal elections.
Activities
- Creating and managing the “Vote for Women” social media platform which will raise awareness about the female quota law for municipal elections.
- Continue Lobbying with the stakeholders (MPs and Political Parties) to endorse the gender quota law.
Conduct awareness sessions for youths, men, and women throughout Lebanon about the importance of women’s participation in politics and municipal work.
Creating and managing the Women Power website featuring female candidates in parliament and government positions at present.
Outcomes
- Raising awareness about why it is essential to have more women in politics and the municipal work, and the female political representation.
- Submitting a proposed gender quota law and discussing it in Plenary sessions.
- Organizing a quota coalition to promote and lobby for the quota proposal’s endorsement.
