In a step aimed at enhancing women’s representation in Lebanese municipal councils, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and UN Women, in collaboration with the organization “Fifty-Fifty” and with the support of the Government of Canada, launched the “Salma” Agreement (Together for Equality), which was signed in Beirut. This strategic initiative aims to significantly increase the representation of women in municipal councils in Lebanon ahead of the upcoming municipal and mukhtar elections in 2025.
